The system consists of a high-speed LED and a CMOS detector, consisting of an integrated photodiode, a high-speed transimpedance amplifier, and a voltage comparator. It is compatible with 3. 3 V and 5 V logical voltages. The permissible operating temperature is -40. . . +105°C. The system is available in a SOIC-8 housing.
Designers who need more channels will find the ACPL-827 series. These are two-channel optocouplers, containing two LEDs optically coupled with phototransistors. The insulation can withstand up to 5000 VRMS. The maximum permissible voltage Vce is 70 V, while the maximum average current Ic is 50 mA. The offer includes ACPL-827-300E systems with current amplification (CTR) in the range of 50%. . . 600% in SMD DIP-8 housing. The ACPL-827-30CE has a narrower CTR range: from 200% to 400% and is also available in a SMD DIP-8 housing. The ACPL-827-00CE also has a CTR range from 200% to 400%, but is available in a THT DIP-8 enclosure.
In addition to classic optically isolated transoptors, the Broadcom range also includes optically isolated IGBT drivers. One of them is the ACPL-P302-000E chip, which contains an LED coupled to a chip containing a power stage. The maximum output current is 0. 4 A. The system is characterized by a wide range of operating voltages - from 10 to 30 V. The application of the driver includes, among others control of IGBT gates and MOSFET power transistors as well as brushless motors.
The ACPL-T350 is an isolated IGBT controller with a maximum output peak current of 2. 5 A. The operating voltage range is from 15 to 30 V. The system includes built-in protection against too low a voltage. The insulation is able to withstand 3750 V for 1 minute. The ACPL-T350 is designed to control 1200V/100A IGBT transistors. For IGBT transistors with higher ratings, the ACPL-T350 can drive an additional power stage before the transistor. The current required to power the system is only 4 mA. ACPL-T350-000E in THT DIP-8 enclosure and ACPL-T350-360E in SMD enclosure are available. The second system also meets the requirements of IEC/EN/DIN EN 60747-5-5.
The ACPL-H342-000E has a maximum output peak current of 2. 5 A. The output voltage range is 15 to 30 V. The system includes built-in protection against under-voltage. It also has a built-in Miller active levelling system. It is available in a SOP8 housing.
The ACPL-333J-000E is an advanced controller with a maximum output current of 2. 5 A. The driver has features such as under-voltage protection, soft IGBT off, Miller's active leveling circuit and automatic reset on error. The operating voltage range is from 15 to 30 V. It is available in a SOP16 housing. The application of the driver includes, among others control of IGBT gates and MOSFET power transistors, brushless motors and UPSs.
Broadcom also offers isolated amplifiers such as the ACPL-C79A-000E. It is designed for use in current and voltage sensors in applications such as motor control and renewable energy sources. The amplifier has a 1% gain tolerance. The amplifier has a bandwidth of 200 kHz and a response time of 1. 6 µs. It is available in the SSO-8 housing.
The ACPL-798J-000E is an optically isolated sigma-delta modulator with LVDS interface. It operates with 5 V. The dynamic range of the system is 82 dB. The differential inputs can operate with ±200 mV. They can be connected to a bypass resistor. The sampling frequency can be up to 25 MHz. The system can be used for current and voltage sensors, production process control, data acquisition systems and current converters. Optically insulated systems from Broadcom can be found in Micros offer.
