ADA-I91402 is used to convert the USB standard to RS-485/422 without altering the data format being transmitted. It is a Plug & Play device, meaning it is automatically detected by the Windows system once connected to the USB port of the converter. It transfers the RX, TX signals and two additional RTS, CTS, or DTR, DSR signals selected by the micro-switch SW2.
The ADA-I91402 converter uses the following data transmission lines for communication with another device:
a) RX+, RX-, TX+/DATA+, TX-/DATA- (RS-485/422),
b) CTS+/DSR+, CTS-/DSR-, RTS+/DTR+, RTS-/DTR- (RS-422).
In the ADA-I91402 converter, there is an option to loop the DTR signal with DSR or RTS with CTS.
The converter uses power from the computer's USB port, supports asynchronous RS-485/422 data transmission speeds up to 921600 bps (standard speed drivers) / 1500000 bps (Profibus speed drivers). Using a USB cable with a type A connector allows a simple connection to the computer. On the RS-485/422 side, it is equipped with detachable screw terminals. The converter has built-in surge protection for the RS-485/422 interface, opto-isolation between the USB and RS-485/422 interfaces at a 2.5kV= level, and galvanic isolation at a 1kV= or 3kV= level depending on the version.
Along with the ADA-I91402 converter, we provide drivers that, when installed, create an additional COM port in the Windows operating system (98, ME, NT, 2000, XP, 2003, Vista, 7, 2008, 8, 8.1, 10). This COM port, with the next available number (e.g., COM3), can be used like a standard COM port. However, it is not an actual port existing in the computer but a virtual port created in the Windows system. Therefore, some DOS-based programs that refer to this COM port may not function properly. Support for Windows 98, ME, NT has been discontinued.
