Detailed description

The reader is built based on the modern and very popular EM4095 chip from EM MICROELECTRONIC - MARIN S.A. It is designed to read Unique transponders operating at a frequency of 125kHz. The code of the read transponder is directly transmitted at the output (with each byte saved as 2 ASCII code digits). Data reading is signaled by a brief illumination of the LED. From the computer's (USB) side, the reader is recognized and operated like a typical serial port. The internal USB-RS232 converter is built based on the FT232RL controller by FTDI.

The included drivers allow creating custom communication procedures in the same manner as devices transmitting data via the RS232 interface. Typical terminal programs, such as the windowed HyperTerminal, can also be used for computer communication. Advanced programmers can utilize D2XX drivers (USB Direct Drivers + DLL S/W Interface).

When a transponder is brought near the reader, the code of the read transponder appears at the output (with each byte saved as 2 ASCII code digits), followed by a 0.5s block. If the transponder remains nearby for an extended period, its code will appear cyclically every 0.5s at the output. The detection of the transponder is additionally signaled by a brief LED illumination.

Data transmission format: xx xx xx xx xx LF CR

where xx represents successive bytes of the transponder code written as ASCII, LF - line feed, and CR - carriage return. These last two characters are transmitted solely to make the data more readable in terminal programs.

The reader comes with a Virtual Com Port (VCP) driver, which installs an additional COM serial port on the computer. The number of this port can be manually changed if necessary through the computer's control panel settings.

Additionally, advanced programmers are provided with direct USB drivers along with a DLL S/W interface (D2XX drivers).

The reader includes an EEPROM memory where parameters such as USB VID, PID, serial number, product description, etc., can be stored. This memory can be programmed by the user directly via USB using Mprog software.

Upon purchasing the reader, the EEPROM memory is pre-programmed and requires no modification for proper operation.

Key Features:
  • Reads Unique transponders (125kHz)
  • Powered via USB port
  • Range: approximately 7 cm (key fobs)
  • Identification based on a 40-bit serial number
  • Transmission parameters: 9600b/s, 8 bits, 1 stop bit, no parity, no hardware flow control
  • LED indicator showing the successful reading of a presented transponder

On special request, readers with different serial transmission parameters and modified operation programs can be provided.

NOTE: The USB cable must be purchased separately.
