Microchip’s 8-bit PIC microcontrollers with RISC architecture are characterized by high current drive capability at the I/O pins, low power consumption, and integrated Watchdog functionality with a Power-On Reset feature. With two separate internal buses—address and data—they use pipelined processing. All registers, including I/O ports, timers, and instruction counters, can have their contents modified in a single operation. All instructions require one cycle (200ns at 20MHz), except for jump instructions, which take 2 cycles. Available in 6-, 8-, 14-, 18-, 20-, 28-, 40-, 44-, 64-, 80-, and 100-pin packages, with FLASH program memory or OTP, non-volatile EEPROM data, and operational RAM. Designed for a wide range of applications from simple designs to very complex high-performance systems. ISP functionality allows most devices to be programmed directly in-system.
