Microchip's 8-bit PIC microcontrollers with RISC architecture are characterized by high I/O pin current efficiency, low power consumption, and a built-in Watchdog and power-on reset function. Featuring two separate internal buses: address and data, they utilize pipeline processing. All registers, including I/O ports, timers, and the instruction counter, can have their contents modified in a single operation. All instructions require a single cycle to execute (200ns at 20MHz), except for jump instructions, which require two cycles. Available in 6-, 8-, 14-, 18-, 20-, 28-, 40-, 44-, 64-, 80-, and 100-pin packages, with FLASH or OTP program memory, non-volatile EEPROM data memory, and operational RAM. Designed for a wide range of applications, from simple projects to highly complex "high-performance" systems. ISP allows most devices to be programmed directly in-system.
