Microchip's 8-bit RISC microcontrollers are characterized by high I/O pin current efficiency, low power consumption, and a built-in Watchdog timer with power-on reset functionality. Featuring separate internal address and data buses, they use pipelined processing. All registers, including I/O ports, timers, and instruction counters, can have their contents changed in a single operation. All instructions take one cycle (200ns at 20MHz), except jump instructions, which take 2 cycles. Available in 6-, 8-, 14-, 18-, 20-, 28-, 40-, 44-, 64-, and 80-pin packages with FLASH or OTP program memory, non-volatile EEPROM data memory, and operational RAM. These I/O pins are intended for various applications, from simple projects to highly complex "high performance" systems. ISP allows most devices to be programmed directly in-system.
