The MBI5168 is a simple and cost-effective LED driver solution primarily designed for controlling LED matrices. It features an 8-bit serial-parallel shift register. Using the parallel outputs of the register, current sources powering the LEDs are switched on or off. The output current is adjustable from 5mA to 120mA via an external resistor (Rext). The current tolerance within a single device is less than ±3%, and between different devices, it is less than ±6%. The MBI5168 is powered with a voltage range of 3.0V to 5.5V, and the maximum voltage applied to the LED can be 17V. The device is controlled through a serial interface operating at a maximum frequency of 25MHz. The MBI5168 also has a serial output for controlling the input of the next device, enabling cascading of multiple devices.
