What are operational amplifiers and what are they used for?
Not high enough output voltage is a very common problem which can be solved in various ways. It is popular to include external transistor in the project. Nonetheless, using an operational amplifier is way more convenient and effective. We particularly explain below what an operational amplifier is and how this device works.
Increasing the voltage - what is an operational amplifier
In spite of appearances, operational amplifiers are not that complicated in their construction. These are unique integrated circuits with the ability to increase the output voltage. So how are they constructed? Similarly to differential amplifiers, the difference in their construction is the fact that operational amplifiers are multistage. A classic amplifier consists of two connected transistors, they have a common- emitter circuit and work in the environment of one emitter. A single housing could contain one or more operational amplifiers. Micros offers both single and multi-circuit operational amplifiers. Everyone will find what they are looking for in our offer.
How do operational amplifiers work?
Similarly to their construction, they are not that complicated when it comes to their operation. Current is supplied to the amplifier through two inputs located on both sides of it. Transistors automatically amplify the voltage, usually to sky-high values. The most powerful operational amplifiers are able to amplify the voltage even as high as one million times. It is definitely too high, therefore bipolar operational amplifiers dominate in our store. The catalogue includes models with negative and positive feedback, which are so-called closed loop amplifiers.
Using closed loop is essential in order for the operational amplifiers to be applied anywhere. Without limiting the power, the circuit that is a part of the amplifier would burn immediately. How does the closed loop work? In fact, not all the output voltage actually travels to the further part of the circuit. Part of it goes to the input. That is why operational amplifiers contain two inputs. Excessive power of the voltage is reduced by moving part of it to the negative input.
Ideal operational amplifier - theory and reality
Certain features distinguish an ideal operational amplifier. Of course only in theory because in reality, having ideal parameters in a practical model is impossible. An ideal model is distinguished by:
- Unlimited input impedance
- Input impedance at zero value
- Unlimited value of voltage amplification
- Unbalanced voltage at zero input value
Of course we have to consider that although operational amplifiers integrated circuits are not ideal, in reality most of the so-called ideal parameters are not necessary. Input impedance value or voltage amplification are more than enough in all applications of operational amplifiers.
Operational amplifiers - Store with rich stock
If you need operational amplifiers, Micros has everything that you need. We offer operational amplifiers from best manufacturers who guarantee effective work and long lifespan of their products. You do not have to worry about how to check the device while choosing an operational amplifier from our offer. Every product which we allow to be admitted to trading is fully functional and warranteed.
