WiFi modules work based on a technology which uses radio waves, in order to send and receive data. In the modern world, numerous devices communicate among themselves wirelessly, namely through WiFi. Wifi modules - a standard in many devices

Integrated and external WiFi modules - A comparison

Such modules, or actually cards, can be divided into two groups - internal and external ones. How to choose a model which will suit your expectations best? Everything depends on your individual needs. If the main purpose of the network card is to work with only one device - choosing a solution with an internal WiFi module seems to be a good and logical choice. If, however, a given WiFi module will be needed to connect various devices to the network - choose an external WiFi module.
Internal options allow you to leave free USB slots, which for some users is not without significance. Especially in the case of using devices in which slots are located very close to each other. At the time, a situation can happen when connecting an external USB WiFi module makes it impossible to use other slots. Operation speed and connection stability is not dependent on the card type. However it is worth taking into account the software of devices with which the WiFi module of your choice will be connecting with, since products with the PCI standard do not have any issues with software installation, regardless of the operating system (Including Linux). But USB WiFi modules do sometimes have issues even with the popular Windows OS.
